What is your role?
As a founder, I’m responsible for the success or failure of my company. Operations, marketing, consulting, strategy, financing, human resources, sales, public relations, etc. — it all falls on my shoulders. As an executive producer, I develop and execute creative strategies for marketing, advertising, and branding campaigns to achieve my client’s goals. I primarily work with various digital content creators such as photographers, filmmakers, writers, musicians, graphic designers, and other creative professionals to establish the visual identity of my clients’ brands and lead its creative output.
Where did you grow up and attend school?
I was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea and moved to Las Vegas, NV in 2007 to advance my knowledge of and gain more international experience in the meetings and events industry. I have earned a bachelor’s degree in meetings and events management and a master’s degree in hospitality management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
What brought you to Rob Roy’s Innevation Center?
I first came to the Innevation Center several years ago to attend a networking event, and I was very impressed by the beautiful and functional facility and professional staff members.
How has technology changed your business?
There is no doubt that technology is transforming the media industry and, while television isn’t dead, the way we distribute and consume it is rapidly changing. People now view content everywhere: TVs, mobile phones, and connected devices. Moreover, today’s content consumers are consistently looking for quick and easy ways to digest information, which has led to an increased demand for video-based delivery. I’m excited about these ongoing changes because it motivates us to continue to transform how we approach media and how we create and deliver the right returns to our current and potential clients. The future is exciting.
What is your favorite local spot?
Phone call or text message?
Twitter or Facebook?
Who would you most like to have dinner with (dead or alive) and why?
Anthony Bourdain. He has taught me about living life with no reservations and inspired me to become a better traveler, eater, and storyteller. More importantly, I would like to thank him in person for everything. Man… He is gone too soon, but he will never be forgotten.
If you could time travel, would you go forward or backward?
Forward. As Roy T. Bennett wrote in The Light in the Heart, “Life is about accepting the challenges along the way, choosing to keep moving forward, and savoring the journey.”, I chose to keep moving forward at my own pace and enjoy every moment of the journey.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
“I’m not sure what I’ll do, but— well, I want to go places and see people. I want my mind to grow. I want to live where things happen on a big scale.” ― F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Ice Palace, and Other Stories. This one simple quote with a powerful meaning truly resonated and motivated me to challenge myself and move to Vegas in 2007. Twelve years later, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life. I love Vegas, and it’s my honor to be a new member of Rob Roy’s Innevation Center. Thank you.
