Eric Linder

Founder, CEO, Team Leader
Team 5

What does your company do?
Team 5 is a 501c3 non profit veteran medical foundation that deploys to the overlooked, remote and austere locations around the globe to conduct training of the indigenous medical providers, run medical and dental clinics, conduct ultrasounds and perform cosmetic surgeries including cleft pallets, lips and Rhino. The team then donates approximately $1M in supplies so they are self sufficient.

What is your role?
I am the Team Leader, so all the stress and responsibilities land on me. I make sure the funding is coming in, the sponsor gear and medicines are ordered, transportation is taken care of, medical licenses and country agreements are in place and then I deploy with the team as the lead practitioner and see patients in the medical clinic with Brigit (PICU-RN). I’m the first assistant in surgeries and conduct the ultrasounds.

Where did you grow up and attend school?
I grew up in NJ and attended several schools beginning with NJ State Police Rescue School in High School for my EMT, then USAF (Crash, Fire, Rescue), LVMPD (Tactical Medic), Israeli Defense Force (Para-Rescue). I also attended formal schools including University of Nebraska Medical Center, Community College of the Air Force, Israeli Medical Corps (PA), MARS project candidate and received my masters from Fellow Academy Of Wilderness Medicine at WMS. I’m now working on my second masters in DiMM (Diploma of Mountain Medicine).

What brought you to The Innevation Center?
It’s the right fit for us. We need the help of the community to make the foundation grow and also run smoothly. Innevation is set up to do just that. Plus its a cool place to hang out and meet new people.

How has technology changed your business?
New medical, survival and communication devices are coming out each day. We need to stay on top of the technology so we can do our jobs more proficiently and it helps with time management. The quicker we can see a patient, the more patients we can see in a day. We already had the opportunity to connect with some of the technology companies at Innevation, including Epix Solutions.

What is your favorite local spot?
Downtown Summerlin… you can walk around and get a coffee or just jump in a movie. Plus they have Trader Joes 🙂

Phone call or text message?
I hate texting… I’d rather hear your voice and make sure the message is correct then get a text and miss the understanding.

Twitter or Facebook?
Facebook… check us out: team5foundation

Who would you most like to have dinner with (dead or alive)?
Einstein (Dead) or Tony Robbins (Alive)

If you could time travel, would you go forward or backward?
I would have waited 4 years before joining the Air Force to get my degree first… then jump in. I kind of took the hard road and missed the college youth experience.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
You can always decide your mood… don’t let others try to influence it.

Bonus Question: What is your favorite quote?
“Not all who wander are lost” Tolkien
